Earlan Bartley, better known by his stage name Alkaline is a Jamaican dancehall recording artist. Some of his popular songs include “Champion Boy” “Things Take Time” “How It Feel”, “Fleek””ATM”, “Ride On Me”, and “Conquer the World”. He was given the name Alkaline by his sister – the name was derived from an alkaline battery that has a positive and negative sides to it. His sister saw that he had a dual personality that included a positive side and a negative side.
Alkaline attended Ardenne High School in Kingston and started his career as a teenager. Music videos such as “Just Wah Do Music, “Mi Love Woman” and “Reflections” were captured in his school clothes. He finally got a break through in dancehall in 2013 with hit songs “123”, “Things Mi Love” and “Move Mountains”. He has a unique way of delivering his lyrics in his songs, and a soothing nasal voice which makes him easily recognized. His international hit “Fleek” made catapulted him into a household name in his homeland.
