Melesha O’Garro, better known by her stage name Lady Leshurr, is a rapper, singer and producer from Kingshurst, Solihull, England. She is best known for her Queen’s Speech series of freestyles – the third of which went viral in 2015. Born to parents from the Caribbean Island of St. Kitts, Lady Leshurr grew up listing to music with her mother. She was heavily influenced by reggae music, in particular Bob Marley and Sister Nancy.
Leshurr first started writing poetry at age 6, however; she decided that writing music would bring her to a wider audience. She released her first mixtape at age 14. She initially gained fame through her critically-acclaimed mixtapes, earning second place for the best female artist at the 2011 mixtape awards. She is also known for her work on the track “Wonky” by the electronic dance duo Orbital. Her favorate and most infuential rap artist are Eminem, Missy Elliott, and Lil Wayne. She has appeared in two movies, “Lapse of Honour” and “1 Day”
